The New International
Airport
The Panama City–Bay
County International
Airport is the first new
airport to be built in
the U.S. in the past 20
years. Larger in land
mass (4,000 acres) than
the Hartsfield–Jackson
Atlanta International
Airport, the anticipated
completion date is
Spring 2009 and
announcement of major
carriers should be
coming soon.
Providing service from
major metropolitan hubs
across the U.S. and the
world, the estimated
cost for the new airport
is $300-$400 million
dollars. The 10-12,000
foot long runway will be
designed to accommodate
the Airbus A380, the
world’s largest
airliner.
This airport will
completely transform the
Panama City-Bay County
area and open the
regional market to new
investors and
vacationers from around
the world. The new
airport and business
opportunities will set
the stage for a major
economic, tourist and
resident migration boom
in Panama City.
